§1. What the integration does
SmplyHyre for Zoho Recruit lets you run AI-led first-round voice interviews without leaving Zoho Recruit. You pick a candidate, send them to a SmplyHyre interview, and the results — an AI score, a full transcript and a detailed evaluation report — come back onto the candidate record automatically.
The interview itself is conducted by SmplyHyre's adaptive AI interviewer: it follows a job-specific flow, asks your must-have anchor questions, adapts follow-ups to the candidate's answers, and evaluates every response consistently.
§2. Before you start
Make sure the following are in place (usually done once by your administrator):
- The SmplyHyre extension is installed in your Zoho Recruit organization.
- Your organization's SmplyHyre account is connected in the extension settings.
- The job you are hiring for exists in SmplyHyre with an interview agent configured (job description, difficulty, must-ask questions).
If any of these are missing, see the Admin Guide or ask your administrator.
§3. Sending a candidate to an AI interview
- Open the candidate's record in Zoho Recruit.
- Open the SmplyHyre panel on the record (in the related list / extension widget).
- Select the job / interview agent the candidate should be interviewed for.
- Click Send interview invite.
The candidate immediately receives an email from SmplyHyre with a secure, single-use interview link. You don't need to schedule a time slot — the candidate can take the interview whenever they are ready, within the invitation window.
§4. What the candidate experiences
The candidate opens their link, checks their microphone and camera, and speaks with SmplyHyre's AI interviewer — a natural, conversational voice interview of the duration configured for the job. The AI asks the role's must-ask questions, adapts follow-ups to the candidate's answers, and can include practical/work-sample tasks if the job is configured for them.
Interviews are recorded and can be proctored depending on your organization's settings, so you can review exactly what happened at any time.
§5. Tracking interview status
The candidate's interview status updates automatically in Zoho Recruit — no manual syncing. You will see one of the following:

| Invited | The interview invitation has been sent to the candidate |
| In Progress | The candidate has started the AI interview |
| Completed | The interview finished and evaluation is being prepared |
| Evaluated | AI score and report are available on the candidate record |
| Expired | The candidate did not attend within the invitation window |
§6. Reading the results
Once the interview is evaluated, the candidate record in Zoho Recruit carries:
- AI Score — the overall evaluation score for the interview.
- AI Report — a link to the full evaluation report: per-question scoring, strengths and gaps, communication assessment, and any proctoring flags.
- Transcript & recording — available inside the report, so you can verify any answer yourself.
Use the score to rank candidates, and open the report before shortlisting — the report shows why the candidate scored the way they did, not just the number.
§7. FAQ & troubleshooting
The candidate says they didn't get the invite.
Ask them to check spam for an email from SmplyHyre, or resend the invitation from the candidate record.
The status hasn't updated after the interview.
Results are usually pushed within a few minutes of interview completion. If a record looks stuck, refresh it; if it stays stuck, contact support with the candidate's email.
Can I re-interview a candidate?
Yes — send a new invitation. Each interview is evaluated independently and the record keeps the latest result.
Does the candidate need to install anything?
No — a browser with a working microphone is enough for standard interviews. Secure proctored interviews may use the SmplyHyre desktop app, in which case the invite email walks the candidate through it.
